Upper Township Solar Energy
In the spring of 2017, the Upper Township School District entered into a fifteen-year Power Purchase Agreement with Marina Energy to construct two solar fields; one behind the Elementary School and one on District land adjacent to the Middle School.
The Middle School solar field is a 330 kW AC unit with an estimated annual energy generation of 530,550 kWh. The Elementary School solar field is a 750 kW AC unit with an estimated annual energy generation of 1,151,201 kWh.
Since becoming fully operational in 2017, the systems have lowered energy costs by approximately $150,000 per year. In addition to the economic advantages to the district, the systems have had a lasting impact on our environment. Please click the link below for detailed information on the solar systems.
